| OVERVIEW | |||
Bionotes (ISSN 0972-1800) is a quarterly research newsletter on the various aspects of Life Sciences. It is being published by a society called 'A BIOLOGISTS CONFRERIE', with its office at Aligarh (U.P., INDIA), for more than ten years. |

| THE BEGINNING | |||
In 1998, it was contemplated by some scientists that a research society be established in India, to help and encourage young research workers in their studies in the different fields of sciences like Zoology, Botany, Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental sciences, Cytology, Ecology, Medicinal systems, Wildlife, Biochemistry, Biotechnology etc. From January 1999, a research newsletter by the name of "BIONOTES" was started, which publishes short articles and research notes and news on different aspects of living materials. Studies cover morphology, taxonomy, effects of pollutants, agri & horticulture, inventories of fauna and flora, new descriptions, cytogenetics, anthropology, ethnobotany etc. The first issue of Bionotes appeared on the 25th March 1999. |

| PROGRESS SO FAR | |||
Bionotes has published 10 volumes, up to December 2008. All the quarterly issues were released separately, i.e. no joint issue, and all issues were published in the due month regularly, i.e. in March, June, September and December. Its 10th, 25th and 40th issues were published as the "Special Numbers". Till December 2004, a total of 39 papers/articles, 309 short research notes, and 190 scientific news items were published. Volume 10, No. 4 has been released in December 2008.
